Moana Reid is happy to announce the signing of Cony Cornelius as the seventh member of the Wildcats' 2026 recruiting class.
Cornelius is a 6'0" middle blocker that played volleyball at Hillhouse High School, and was twice a captain for the Academics. She earned 2nd Team All Southern Connecticut Conference honors following the 2025 season.Cornelius plays club volleyball for New Haven Juniors.
She is the daughter of Teqoa Griffith and plans to major in Culinary Arts/Food and Beverage Industry Management. She took academic classes at Metropolitan Business Academy, twice earning Scholar Athlete of the Season honors. When asked why she chose JWU, she replied, "To follow my passion for culinary arts while at the same time experiencing a new city and environment." She is a National Honor Society member and has also earned the Seal of Biliteracy.Â
Coach Reid feels that Cornelius will contribute in many ways. "I am pleased to add Coni to the team. She is a committed student athlete that not only adds value physically, but I think she will also contribute as a leader. I am excited to see how Coni develops over her time as a Wildcat and the accomplishments she is sure to achieve!"
