The Wildcats played host to the visiting Mustangs of Mid-Atlantic Christian University this evening in the first "White Out" event of the season. Students, staff, faculty, and family were encouraged to wear white to help support the home team. The Wildcats played a tough game the whole night, and walked off the court with a well-earned victory.

Both teams were aggressive early, with JWU quickly gaining the advantage.  DaShaun Alston would score on a fantastic dunk to break a tie later in the first half. However, the Wildcats briefly lost their defensive discipline, resulting in multiple Mustang trips to the free throw line.  Fortunately, the Wildcats were able to get their game going again and take a 34-30 lead into halftime.

The Mustangs came out strong in the second half and quickly tied the game.  The Wildcats would respond with solid offense, featuring good ball movement, which allowed them to regain the lead. The home team would continue to build momentum and finish the game strong, claiming a 70-59 victory.

Michael Daniel led the team this evening with a total of 16 points, followed by Alston and Shaquille White with 12 and 11 points respectively.

When asked about tonight's game head coach, Dion Lansdale replied, "Hopefully this is the first of many to come for the team. The guys did a great job and I am really proud of them." Student Assistant Coach, Carrington Chambliss has been with the team since his freshman year. He is now a member of the coaching staff and has seen the team continue to grow. He said at the end of the game, "It has been a long time coming, but it feels good to get to this point in time. I hope the guys learned from this and continue to play strong."
