Second Half Swoon Dooms Wildcats

Box Score

High Point, NC - The Wildcats (3-11) traveled to High Point University to compete in their second road game of the weekend.  Johnson & Wales started off strong, but faltered in the second half, falling to the Panthers, 99-36.

JWU started the game strong offensely, taking a lead 5-2 behind a three pointer from Kindrick Anderson. High Point quickly turned that deficit around, going on a 15-0 run over the next 7 minutes to grab a 17-5 advantage. A Joshua Cohen 3 pointer would trim the Panther lead to 5 at 21-16 with 7:45 remaining in the half, but that would be as close as JWU would get for the rest of the period. High Point would close the half on a 21-10 run to take a 43-26 halftime lead. The road weary Wildcats would have little left in the tank for the second half.  The Panthers came out of the locker room on fire, going on a 18-0 run and pushing their lead to 61-26.  High Point continued the defensive pressure for the entire half, holding the Wildcats to just 10 second half points, and cruising to a 99-36 win.

Kindrick Anderson and Joshua Cohen led the Wildcats with 10 points each.  Mario Irby also contributed 9 points and 5 rebounds, while Taylor Thomas had 4 steals for JWU.

The Wildcats are next in action at home as they take on Averett University on Tuesday, December 11th.  Tip-off is set for 7:30pm in the JWU Student Center Gymnasium.
