Johnson and Wales made the long trip to Elizabeth City, NC to take on the Mustangs of Mid-Atlantic Christian University on Saturday. The Wildcats entered Saturday's game looking to sweep the Mustangs on the season, as JWU had previously defeated Mid- Atlantic at home on January 19th by a score of 70-59.
Early in the game both teams routinely traded baskets. Midway through the first half, JWU heated up on the offensive end of the floor and opened up a ten point lead. Mid-Atlantic fought back at the end of the first half, trimming that lead in half at the break.
During the 2nd half, the Wildcats continued their efficient play on the offensive end of the floor, opening up a commanding 17 point lead. Mid-Atlantic continued to battle back and trim the lead, but would ultimately fall short to JWU by a final score of 81-70.
The Wildcats were paced by solid performances from Sidney Mitchell, who had a game high 19 points. JWU also received solid play from Neko Burson, Dashaun Alston, and Hursel Forbes, who all scored double figures.
JWU hopes to continue their winning ways as they return to their home floor on Thursday evening as they play host to Barber Scotia College. Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
