Jacksonville, FL - Sophomore Rickey Porter scored 22 points and added 13 boards as the Johnson & Wales men's basketball team claimed their first win of the season, defeating Florida College 59-55 at the Eagle Basketball Classic.

Porter finished 10-of-19 from the floor for the Wildcats (1-1), while senior Nicholas Crawford added 11 points in the winning effort.

Johnson & Wales were dominant on the boards throughout, posting a 45-32 rebound advantage over Florida College.  The team also hassled the Falcons into 16 turnovers - 13 off of steals.

Florida College was led by Anthony Allen with nine points.

The Wildcats will play their home opener on Tuesday when they host Piedmont International.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
