Winston-Salem, NC - Junior forward Rickey Porter scored his 1,000th point as the Johnson & Wales men's basketball team defeated Piedmont International University 84-81 on the road Monday.

Porter reached the mark on his final field goal of the game, joining teammate Joshua Cohen as the only players in program history to reach the 1,000 point plateau.

He finished with 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting for the Wildcats (14-12), helping lift Johnson & Wales to their fourth straight win.

Nicholas Crawford added 16 points and eight rebounds for Johnson & Wales while Michael Cuthbertson added 13 points.

Justin Valentine scored a game high 24 points for Piedmont International (6-18).  Malik Milton added 23 points.

The Wildcats will host Allen University on Thursday in the final game of the regular season.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
