Fifth-ranked Wildcats Hold off Columbia International 79-74

Charlotte, NC - Senior Joshua Cohen scored the last five points of the game - all from the free throw line - as the USCAA #5 Johnson & Wales men's basketball team held off visiting Columbia International University 79-74.

Cohen, who was honored earlier in the day for becoming the school's first member of the 1,000 point club, helped the Wildcats (10-11) claim their fifth win in seven games.  He finished with 15 points and six boards on the night.

Rickey Porter led all scorers with 27 points to go with eight rebounds while Nicholas Crawford added 18 points, seven steals, six assists, and six boards for Johnson & Wales.

The Wildcats consistently frustrated Columbia International with pressure defense, forcing 21 turnovers to their nine and holding a 22-9 advantage in points off of turnovers.

Ben Johnson led Columbia International with 20 points on the day.

The Wildcats resume play on Tuesday when they travel to USCAA #6 Warren Wilson College.  Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
