Box Score Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's basketball team defeated South Carolina Faith A&M 135-55 on Tuesday night, setting several new school records in the process.
The Wildcats sprinted out to a 61-26 halftime lead as they shot 58.5% (24-41 from the field, and 11 of the 13 players that saw action scored. South Carolina Faith A&M struggled on the offensive end, missing each of their 14 first half three point attempts, a number that would grow to 22 before the Raging Bulls finally connected from long distance. Collin Irby scored 19 of his game-high 24 points after intermission, as JWU further extended their lead in the second half.
JWU set new school records for points in a game (135), points in a half (72, 2nd (tied)), halftime lead (35), margin of victory (80), total rebounds (63), and double-digit scorers (7).
Fred Patterson had 20 points. while Anthoney Ray added 16 of his own. Zyrion Wilkins came off the bench to score 14 points, grab 9 rebounds and hand out 6 assists. Two Wildcats recorded double-doubles, Jaylen Benson-Hollinhead (10 points, 12 rebounds) and Chalen Stafford-Gill (10 points, 14 rebounds). JC Cooper had 11 points and 5 assists.
The Wildcats are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Voorhees College for a 3pm game.
