Alex Castro Continues Sunshine State Success For Men's Soccer

Charlotte, NC - Alex Castro has signed with Johnson & Wales Charlotte Men's Soccer, becoming the second member of the 2024 recruiting class.

Castro is a versatile midfielder from Orlando, Florida that attends Lake Nona High School. He was a key member of the Lions team that went 15-1-2 in 2023-24. Castro was named to the High School All-Star Metro Team for his outstanding play. He has played club soccer since 2012, most recently for Florida Kraze Krush.

He is the son of Alexandra Morales and Felix Castro and plans to major in Health Science at Johnson & Wales. He is an honor roll student at LNHS. So much about JWU and Charlotte drew Castro to choose to become a Wildcat. When asked to give just a few of the reasons he did so, he replied, "An amazing campus in the downtown area, a competitive soccer team, and job opportunities in a growing city." He continued, "I am excited for this new chapter of my life and can't wait to join a competitive team like JWU!"

Interim Head Coach Nick Fusco raves about Castro's abilities. "Alex continues a trend of getting some of the top players in the Orlando area from Florida Kraze ECNL. Alex is a skilled Center Mid that is calm in tight spaces but also has the ability to pick apart the opponent with good vision for the right pass. He comes from one of the top ECNL teams in the country right now and his ability to impact the game on the ball will help us dominate possession a bit more during our season. Looking forward to seeing Alex show his quality on the ball this season at JWU."
