Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte head women's basketball coach
Jill Dunn is excited to announce the signing of Gabby Golphin as the fourth member of the 2025 recruiting class.
Golphin is a 5'4" guard that attends Ambassador Christian High School in Huntersville. She helped lead the Lions to a 12-6 record in 2024-25, averaging 8.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 5.6 steals per contest. She was named the Lions' Most Valuable Player and Best Defensive Player for her efforts. She played her junior year at Chambers High School in Charlotte. She played club basketball for Mt. Luxor Rockets and most recently Charlotte Monarchs.
She is the daughter of Stacy Golphin and plans to major in Health Science at Johnson & Wales. I chose JWU because it felt like home, replied Golphin when asked about her decision to become a Wildcat. "The coaches are amazing and supportive, the campus itself is really an uptown vibe and I really enjoyed getting to know my future teammates. They really welcomed me with open arms." Golphin has been an A/B Honor Roll student each of the last two years of her high school career.
Coach Dunn feels that Golphin's strengths mesh nicely with what makes the Wildcats successful. "Gabby is a true point guard with phenomenal quickness. Her speed and ball handling ability is going to be a great benefit for our fast paced transition game. She has the capability to wreak havoc for 94 feet on the defensive end. She also is a deep 3 point shooting threat. We are excited to see how she blossoms in our program." For her part, Golphin is ready to take the next step. "I am excited to play for JWU and I really look forward to putting on a jersey and showing everyone my talent, and I am most stoked about creating life bonds with my teammates and winning against rival teams."
