Charlotte, NC - Laylah Toscano has signed with Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball, becoming the fifth member of the 2025 recruiting class.
She is a 5'9" guard/forward that graduated from Jackson Day School in Charlotte. Toscano helped lead the Mariners to a 17-11 record in 2024-2025, including a 2nd round appearance in the 2025 NCHSAA 1A state playoffs. She was the team's leading scorer (16.7 ppg), and rebounder (6.8rpg), earning Most Valuable Player honors for JDS. She has played club basketball for Lady Attack, QC Ballers, and most recently Upward Stars.
Toscano is the daughter of Christina Toscano and Raheen Reid, and plans to major in Health Science at Johnson & Wales. She loved everything about the school and felt it was the right place for her. "I chose JWU because I love the program, coaches, and overall environment of the school. I believe I will be a positive asset to the team's success and be guided on the right path for my future and career." Toscano was an A/B Honor Roll student in 2024-25 after winning the 2023-24 Distinguished Christian High School Student Award and the 2023-24 Spanish I Award.
Coach Dunn is thrilled to have a player as versatile as Toscano join the team. "Laylah is a very versatile and skilled player that can play the guard or forward position for us.  She is extremely talented and can score from multiple positions.  She will be a great asset to our program and university."
