Luis Espitia Joins JWU Charlotte Men's Soccer

Charlotte, N.C. - Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's soccer head coach Teddy Bogba is pleased to announce the signing of Luis Espitia as the sixth member of the 2026 recruiting class.

Espitia recently graduated from Windermere High School, where he was a member of the Wolverine's boys soccer team for the last three years. He helped lead the Wolverines to 46 wins during that time. Espitia scored four goals and added eight assists as a senior defender. His Wolverine teams won two district and two regional championships. He plays club soccer for SOL Soccer Club MLS Next II.

Espitia is the son of Liz and Evelio Espitia, and plans to major in Business Administration at Johnson & Wales. When asked about his decision to become a Wildcat, Espitia replied that he wanted, "to continue in my career towards soccer, and to pursue a career in business."

Coach Bogba was thrilled to add a talented player like Espitia to the team. "Securing Luis out of Florida is a monumental win for our program. He comes to us as one of the most highly regarded recruits in the region, and his talent speaks for itself. Luis has that distinct Florida style of play—incredibly technical, creative in tight spaces, and highly confident on the ball. He gives us an instant spark in the attacking third, and we expect him to be a major piece of our tactical identity as we push for a championship."
